right now at 11:00, coming home again, pennsylvania state police have lifted a shelter in place order for part of monroe county where a police manhunt has been under way for suspect of the ambush of a state trooper. even though the residents are being allowed home police do not believe the threat is over. eric police have been looking for the survivalist.

>> reporter: residents were stuck and not allowed to go home some since yesterday and some all day today. this is a shelter at a local fire company where they were able to sleep on cots. the police said they are still concerned for the safety of the community and are strongly recommending people in the area stay in their homes and do not go into the woods where law enforcement is searching. >> a lot of anxiety. >> pennsylvania state police said in an e-mail they don't have erik frein in custody but are determined to find him. the search continues after he shot one state trooper and critically injured another. >> the cops are everywhere in the woods. i looked out my window and had a cop shine a flashlight in my face. >> the neighbors watched planes overhead and tried to get back

complete coverage on the police manhunt. you can count on us to bring you new developments in the case. also in monroe county five people in a minivan including three children were killed in a car crash this afternoon on route 115 in effort. that's about 35 miles north of allentown. according to monroe county coroners the minivan was speeding. four vehicles were involved in the crash, no one else was hurt. new at 11:00, a pit bull on the loose sends three people to the hospital tonight. two of the victims are children. police tell nbc 10 a nine-year-old boy and 11-year-old boy were attacked by the dogs on west oak lane. a bystander tried to help and was bitten. police were able to capture the dog. a pennsylvania lobbyist is

arrested on rape charges. a woman claims she was sexually assaulted in his office at the bellevue. police say the 27-year-old woman said the assault followed an event at the union league last month. the 40-year-old is charged with indecent assault and unlawful restraint. he is a lobbyist in harrisburg but with an office in center city. new information on the second security scare at the white house in less than 24 hours. we've learned that a south jersey man has been arrested for trying to enter the white house today. nbc confirms 19-year-old kevin -- has been charged with unlawful entry. authorities say he approaches one of the white house gates on foot and took off. he later showed up at another gate in a car. and when he refused to leave, he was arrested. just yesterday another man managed to scale the white house fence and made it inside the

front doors before the agents caught up with him. the man was running in this video. officials say he appeared unarmed at the time but it turned out he had a small folding knife on him. the first family was not home and the secret service has since stepped up security efforts. a mild night across the delaware valley. nbc 10 where we caught many folks out and about enjoying the last official weekend of summer. nbc 10 first alert meteorologist brittney shipp is here. you are tracking a last minute warm up before fall begins. >> tomorrow, the temperatures return back to the 80s. we were above the average which is 77 for this time of year as we head into tomorrow, 82 degrees and then fall officially starts monday night the temperatures drop back down big time about 10 degrees as a cold

front moves through. the temperatures throughout the region, it's a mild evening out still in the mid-60s in allentown. 65 in pottstown. 67 in philadelphia. 68 in wilmington. we have a coastal low working up the coast and bringing a few showers to toms river but we'll continue to see a southerly wind coming up. it will lead to humid conditions and warm us up into tomorrow. we'll see the clouds increasing and track a weather disturbance that will move in from the west. there is a cold front associated with the disturbance and it will drop the temperatures down into the 70s as we head into monday. i'll go over the details, that's coming up. a plea to isis, the wife of a british aide worker is calling on the group to free her husband as dozens of turkish hostages are back at home tonight. preparing to strike. the countdown is on to walk off

tonight the wife of a british aid worker being held by isis has issued a plea to the militant group. he writes that allen is a peaceful, selfless man and that isis will see it in their hearts to release her husband.

this comes as dozens of turkish hostages held by isis are back home tonight. they landed at the airport after three months in captivity. they were working at the consulate when the islamic terrorists overran the city. turkey state run news agency says that no ransom was paid and no conditions accepted for their return. coming up, a look at what the medical center is planning to do once the nurses walk off the job. and step into fall. we're there as brian williams celebrates education and achievement here in philadelphia. and i'm tracking a chance of a stray shower on sunday. and warmer temperatures on the last day of summer. i'll let you know what to expect as fall rolls in.

happening this weekend, nurses at a delaware county hospital are set to walk off the job. a dozen nurses were at union headquarters today to prepare for a two-day strike. it is set to last until tuesday. they have been without a contract since june 8th. the sticking point here is staffing. we spoke to families of patients and they have mixed feelings. >> it's not going to be good with no nurses. i'm being honest, they are excellent. they have given my son excellent care. >> i think it's not right. if people have insurance they should have proper medical care for them. i was a worker too. so i can understand what they're

going through. >> the hospital said in part we have a con ting joy staffing plan in place. we are disappointed that the union has taken this action. in philadelphia, a night to celebrate education and achievement. nbc 10 in center city for the steppingstone scholars step into fall gala. the party was the first charitable event in city hall. brian williams hosted the event and hundreds of people were there to sport steppingstone and its scholars. the organization helps educationally underserved students in the greater philadelphia region. nbc 10 video journalist pete cane was honored today with the silver circle award. now pete started in the mail

and closer to the shore here, 71 in avalon and 71 in lewis. and our temperatures pushed to 79 degrees. so it's a big difference between today and yesterday. up 8 degrees in philadelphia, 10 degrees warmer in pottstown. 11 degrees warmer in millville. i'm sure you noticed the difference today. our radar shows clouds right now. a coastal low is working its way up to the north and bringing a few scattered showers to toms river. and we'll see a southerly wind. that means warm and humid conditions on the way for us once again tomorrow. we are tracking the weather disturbance off to the midwest that will slide closer to us. there is a cold front associated with the weather disturbances and it will drop us back down out of the 80s. but a closer look. scattered showers closer to

midnight and then we'll see more clouds as you start your sunday morning. sunday evening closer to 4:00, 5:00, a chance of a few stray showers near redding and allentown. and this is going to track closer to the i-95 corridor. by 8:00 we could see light showers near philadelphia, wilmington, stretching into parts of trenton. it's not going to mess up your sunday plans. count on warm conditions for the eagles game. by 1:00 p.m. 80 degrees. a mix of sun and clouds. we will see the clouds continuing to increase. fall starts monday night at 10:29. and our temperatures are going to feel fall like as we head into your monday and tuesday. tonight, mostly cloudy, temperatures mild at 65 degrees. and philadelphia tomorrow, we're going to see our temperatures ranging between 79 and 82

a huge crowd for a philadelphia institution. the hero scholarship thrill show was held today. and the event raises money to benefit the families of police and firefighters killed in the line of duty. the highlight of the show, the precision riding of the philadelphia highway patrol motorcycle drill team. always a crowd favorite. a lot of people are going to like the weekend. >> summer is winding down. it's almost over. fall starts monday at 10:29. cloudy skies are expected and warmer than today at 82 degrees. but a cold front will drop us back down into the low to mid-70s for the first week of fall. >> i'm denise nakano.
